GyaanBato Community Interest Company
Effective Date: 21 June 2025 | Version: 1.0 | Last Updated: 21 June 2026
GyaanBato is a Community Interest Company (CIC) incorporated in England and Wales, Limited by Guarantee.
CIC Registration Number: [17347680]
Registered Office: Suite 10, Capital House, 61 Amhurst Road, London, United Kingdom E8 1LL.
Our commitment: GyaanBato CIC is committed to fairness. This Policy sets out your statutory and contractual rights when you purchase digital content from us. Nothing in this Policy limits your rights under UK consumer law. If you have any question about a purchase, please contact us before raising a dispute.
1. STATUTORY RIGHTS — CONSUMER RIGHTS ACT 2015
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 ("CRA 2015"), digital content supplied by GyaanBato CIC must meet three statutory quality standards:
Satisfactory quality: The Report must meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account its description, price and all relevant circumstances.
Fit for purpose: The Report must be fit for any purpose made known to us at the time of purchase.
As described: The Report must match its description on the Platform, including its stated scope, topic, page count and content.
If digital content fails to meet these standards, you are entitled to: (a) a repair or replacement at no cost to you; or (b) where repair or replacement is impossible or disproportionate, a full or partial price reduction. These are your statutory rights and cannot be waived by any term in this Policy.
2. THE 14-DAY CANCELLATION RIGHT — CONSUMER CONTRACTS REGULATIONS 2013
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you ordinarily have the right to cancel a distance contract for digital content within 14 days of entering into the contract, without giving any reason.
However, under Regulation 37, this 14-day withdrawal right does not apply if: (a) the performance of the contract has begun with your prior express consent; and (b) you have acknowledged that your right of withdrawal is lost once the contract is fully performed. GyaanBato CIC obtains both of these acknowledgements at the point of purchase via the checkout confirmation.
In plain language: when you purchase and immediately download a Report, you consent to losing the 14-day cancellation right for that specific purchase. This is standard practice for immediately delivered digital content. Your statutory rights under the CRA 2015 (above) are unaffected.
3. ENTITLEMENT TO A FULL REFUND
You are entitled to a full refund, without deduction, in the following circumstances:
Content materially different from description
Examples: Wrong topic; missing chapters stated in description; wrong report delivered
Time limit: 14 days from purchase
Significant factual errors affecting core purpose
Examples: Systematic data errors that undermine the report's utility
Time limit: 14 days from purchase
Digital file inaccessible through no fault of yours
Examples: Corrupted PDF; file fails to generate; download link broken
Time limit: 14 days from purchase
Incorrect charge
Examples: Charged wrong amount; currency conversion error causing significant overcharge
Time limit: 30 days from purchase
Duplicate charge
Examples: Two charges appear for one purchase
Time limit: 30 days from discovery
To request a refund on any of the above grounds, please follow the process in Section 10 below.
4. DISCRETIONARY REFUNDS
Outside the statutory grounds above, we consider discretionary refund requests on a case-by-case basis. The following principles guide our discretion:
- Requests must be made within 7 days of purchase.
- You should clearly explain why you are dissatisfied and how the content did not meet your expectations.
- We will not provide a discretionary refund where the Report clearly matches its description and is free from significant defects, on the basis that you simply do not find the content interesting or useful.
- We may ask for specific feedback to help us improve. Providing feedback does not entitle you to a refund but helps us serve you better.
- Our decision on discretionary refunds is final, but does not affect your statutory rights under the CRA 2015.
5. FREE REPORTS
No payment is required to access or download free Reports. Accordingly, no refund is applicable to free Reports. If you experience a technical issue accessing a free Report — for example, the download fails or the PDF does not generate correctly — please contact info@gyaanbato.com and we will resolve the issue promptly.
6. CONTRIBUTION TIERS AND TOP-UP AMOUNTS
For paid Reports, we offer three voluntary contribution tiers (Standard, Support More and Patron). The additional amounts in the Support More and Patron tiers, beyond the base price, represent a voluntary top-up donation to our charitable Causes.
Base price component: Fully refundable under Section 3 (statutory grounds) or Section 4 (discretionary), as applicable.
Voluntary top-up component: Not refundable. By choosing a higher tier, you agree that the amount above the base price is a voluntary contribution to our Causes and is not refundable, consistent with our CIC community interest commitment.
Standard tier: The full amount is the base price and is fully subject to the refund rights above.
7. HOW REFUNDS ARE PROCESSED
Decision timeline: We will communicate our decision within 2 business days of receiving a complete refund request.
Processing time after approval: 5–10 business days. This is the time for us to initiate the refund via our payment provider.
Bank processing time: An additional 3–7 business days may be required for the funds to appear in your account, depending on your bank or card issuer.
Razorpay refunds (UPI / card / net banking): Additional bank processing of 3–5 business days may apply within India.
Currency: Refunds are made in the currency of the original transaction at the original exchange rate.
Method: Refunds are returned to the original payment method. We cannot refund to a different card, account or payment method.
On refund of paid content: The personal licence to use the downloaded Report is revoked on refund. We ask that you delete any downloaded copies.
8. INSTITUTIONAL AND BULK PURCHASES
Refund terms for institutional licences (multi-user access, university licences, corporate subscriptions) and bulk purchases are governed by the specific written agreement entered into between GyaanBato CIC and the institution at the time of purchase. In the absence of a specific agreement, this Refund Policy applies. Please contact info@gyaanbato.com for institutional enquiries.
9. FRAUDULENT TRANSACTIONS
If you believe a charge has appeared on your payment method that you did not authorise, please: (1) contact your bank or card issuer immediately to report the unauthorised charge; and (2) contact us at info@gyaanbato.com so that we can investigate. We take payment security seriously and will cooperate fully with any investigation.
10. HOW TO REQUEST A REFUND
Email info@gyaanbato.com with the subject line "Refund Request" and include:
1. Your full name and the email address used at purchase.
2. Your order or transaction reference number (found in your purchase confirmation email).
3. The title and URL of the Report you are requesting a refund for.
4. The ground for your request (see Sections 3 or 4 above) and a brief explanation.
5. If the issue is a file fault or content error, a description of the specific problem.

11. OUR CIC COMMITMENT TO FAIRNESS
As a Community Interest Company, fair dealing with our users is not merely a commercial obligation — it is central to our community interest purpose. Our goal is to resolve every genuine dispute fairly, promptly and without the need for formal proceedings.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your refund request, you may:
(a) Contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133
(b) Use an alternative dispute resolution scheme such as the Ombudsman Services
(c) Bring proceedings in the county court
Your statutory rights are not affected by anything in this Policy.
Our promise: Every contribution to GyaanBato goes first to platform operating costs, then to our community Causes. We handle refund requests with the same integrity we apply to our research. If something is wrong, we will fix it.
